I had a secret – I told her that I was going to tell the person who was setting up the demo that she should not tell the person that it was a new product. I didn’t like the idea of losing that person’s business and I didn’t want to sell a product that she wouldn’t use.
Letme tell you a little story. When she was talking to a man about the new product, the sales person sat in front of the man and used her cell phone to show him all the features of the product.
She never turned off the phone. She stayed on the phone as the man tried to put the details of the product together. He got frustrated and walked out of the store without even having tried the product.
I was angry but my sales person knew that. She had done her job. The man didn’t like the fact that she kept calling him and didn’t want to make a purchase.
In the end I made the mistake of saying to her “Don’t mention the new product. I’m going to try it myself and I want to show the man that you can use the product too.”
